Duncanopsammia are generally hardy and make excellent additions to a beginner or advanced reef aquarium. Propagated Duncanopsammia acclimate very well to new tanks due to the fact that they are tank raised. It is better to acquire coral frags when they are young. It seems that small frags have more ability to adjust to adverse conditions and survive. Duncanopsammia generally grow very quickly under good conditions.

Low to medium ligting is consistant with its normal habitat, though they are adaptable to most lighting.

Make sure that moderate currents will be able to supply them with necessary nutrients and trace elements. Although symbiotic algae called zooxanthellae hosted within them supply most of their nutritional requirements through photosynthesis they will thrive with supplemental feedings. They can be fed regularly on any fleshy marine foods. Choose food items that can fit into the mouth which expands from its normal resting size.

Supplementing their diet with the addition of iodine, trace elements, marine snow, baby brine shrimp, phytoplankton, and food for filter feeders will help to insure their continued good health.
