Aquacultured Pocillopora is one of the easier to maintain SPS corals and grows rapidly in the established reef  aquarium. It will require medium lighting combined with a medium water movement within the aquarium. For continued good health, it will also require the addition of calcium, strontium, and other trace elements to the water. Propagated Pocillopora acclimate very well to new tanks due to the fact that they are tank raised. It is better to acquire coral frags when they are young. It seems that small frags have more ability to adjust to adverse conditions and survive.

Pocillopora  are found in a  very attractive bright greenish or pink color.  The intensity of the coloration is affected by the amount of lighting the coral receives.

Although symbiotic algae called zooxanthellae hosted within them supply most of their nutritional requirements through photosynthesis they do require supplemental feedings. Supplementing their diet with the addition of iodine, trace elements, marine snow, baby brine shrimp, phytoplankton, and food for filter feeders will help to insure their continued good health.
